This movie presents an essay like reading of the many aspects surrounding the life of Juliette Jeanson, a Parisian woman whose sophisticated but empty life involves prostitution. Escaping - as most of his movies do - the narrative arc, Godard tries to portrait issues much more broad: the Paris region, the law of huge building complexes, the death of modern beauty, the cruelty of neo- Capitalism... Making use of whispering voice-overs which criticise the images being shown, actors who constantly brake the barrier between film and documentary by awnsering questions to the camera and conceptual shots in which buildings are shown in a species of model made of product boxes, Godard presents a perspective which mixes reality and subjectiveness.
