Lars Von Trier

Lars Von Trier, film director and screenwriter, was born in 1965, in Denmark. He is greatly known to have started, with Thomas Vinterberg, the Dogme 95, an avant-garde filmmaking movement. His films have several different approaches and his innovative work led to divergences on the critical opinion, but there ́s no doubt that he collaborated to the development of the essay film. It ́s possible to find essayistic approaches in movies like The Early Years: Erik Nietzche Part 1, Dogville and The Five Obstructions, due to their autobiographical, narrative or self-reflexive character.
